Healthy Eats: What's Cooking? Salmon

Salmon is packed full of vitamins and minerals, not to mention it's a very meaty and flavorful fish.

It's health benefits include;

  • High in protein that's food for joint inflammation.

  • Full of Omega-3 fatty Acid DHA which is good for brain health & reducing depression.

  • Increases cardiovascular health by reducing inflammation, preventing excessive blood clotting to help protect against heart attacks, strokes & high blood pressure.

  • Helps with eye health.

  • Excellent source of Vitamin D needed to maintain optimal healh.

Vitamin D deficiency has been linked to an increased risk of cancer, cardiovascular disease, multiple sclerosis, rheumatoid arthritis as well as type-1 diabetes.

Super Simple Salmon

Ingredients (Original recipe makes 4 fillets Servings)

1 tablespoon garlic powder

1 tablespoon dried basil

1/2 teaspoon salt

4 (6 ounce) salmon

2 tablespoons butter

4 lemon wedges

Directions:

1. Stir together the garlic powder, basil, and salt in a small bowl; rub in equal amounts onto the salmon fillets.

2. Melt the butter in a skillet over medium heat; cook the salmon in the butter until browned and flaky, about 5 minutes per side. Serve each piece of salmon with a lemon wedge.
