Shoulders to Lean On

Virtual Support Network

If a "traditional" support group is not available in your area or you are physically unable to attend a meeting in person, as an ASFL Member consider joining our Exclusive Members Only "Shoulders to Lean On" Program. By connecting with other Sarcoidosis Survivors through ASFL's Virtual Support Network "Shoulders to Lean On" you will have an opportunity to receive more of the personal support that you may need!

What is the "Shoulders to Lean On" program?

“Shoulders to Lean On” is a Virtual Support Network outreach program designed to connect Sarcoidosis Survivors &/or Caregivers with support “virtually” in their region as an alternative to the traditional in person support group.

Having the ability to connect to others for support is a very important component in establishing and maintaining a positive outlook in the midst of a personal struggle like illness. ASFL hopes that by providing one on one phone support where there otherwise isn’t any available that participants will have the opportunity to receive the understanding and encouragement needed to help them cope with the various stages of their illness better.

This outreach program will provide the ASFL Sarcoidosis Foundation Network with a way to stay in personal contact with Survivors, giving us an opportunity to obtain wellbeing updates and maintain a level of personal awareness especially in the event a member is unexpectedly faced with a health challenge that becomes debilitating, limiting their ability to communicate with their peers on a mass level (such as through social media or email) leaving those in their social circle concerned unnecessarily.

The ultimate goal of this program is to provide as many Survivors & Caregivers as possible with personal "Shoulders to Lean On" and to develop a comprehensive method to track any developing needs its members may need assistance with.
